How long will it take me to reach the expected level of Polish?
According to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), adopted by the Council of Europe, there are six levels of language proficiency. However, there is no specific number of hours needed to reach each of them. We can only give you an approximate amount of time:
A1 – beginner – about 100-180 hours of study,
A2 – basic – about 180-250 hours of study,
B1 – lower intermediate – about 350-450 hours of study,
B2 – upper intermediate – about 500-700 hours of study,
C1 – advanced – about 700-900 hours of study,
C2 – proficient – more than 1000 hours of study.
We would like to stress that this is very individual, depending on many factors. The pace of learning will be influenced by, among other things: the intensity of the course, the amount of independent work, opportunities for practice and exposure, the learner’s language background, motivation, systematicity.
