COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This one-week course on mindfulness for teachers and educational staff aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of mindfulness and its benefits for personal and professional growth. The course will cover topics such as the principles and practices of mindfulness, integrating mindfulness into the curriculum, supporting students’ social-emotional learning and mental health, and developing personal resilience and self-care. Participants will have the opportunity to learn and practice a variety of mindfulness techniques, including mindful breathing, meditation, and movement, and will develop strategies for incorporating mindfulness practices into their daily routines and teaching practices.

WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR?
- Teachers of all subjects and grade levels
- School counsellors and psychologists
- School administrators
- Teacher trainers
- Non-teaching staff such as librarians, administrative assistants, and custodians

OBJECTIVES:
- To develop an understanding of the basic principles and practices of mindfulness, including its benefits for personal well-being and professional practice.
- To learn how to incorporate mindfulness practices into daily routines and classroom activities, and to develop strategies for supporting students in developing their own mindfulness practices.
- To give course participants the necessary skills or tools to implement mindfulness strategies in their own workplace
- To reduce stress and anxiety among students
- To explore the use of mindfulness-based interventions to support students' social-emotional learning and mental health.
- To explore the potential of mindfulness practices for enhancing personal resilience, stress management, and self-care among teachers and educational staff.
- To build a professional network of colleagues from different countries, and to share best practices and ideas for incorporating mindfulness into educational contexts.

COURSE MODULES:
1) Mindfulness practices - Many mindfulness practices, including mindful breathing, meditation, and movement, will be taught and practised by the participants.
2) Facilitation Skills - The ability to lead mindfulness practices and incorporate mindfulness into lesson plans and instructional strategies will be developed by the participants.
3) Self-care -The strategies for encouraging self-care and stress management will be taught to the participants, who will also learn how to prioritise their own well-being.
4) Creativity - The ability to creatively incorporate mindfulness techniques into one’s own teaching and professional practices will be developed by participants.
5) Self-reflection - Participants will discover techniques for boosting personal resilience and wellbeing as well as build abilities in self-reflection and self-awareness.
6) Critical Thinking - Participants will gain the skills necessary to critically assess the efficacy of mindfulness techniques and interventions and to modify these techniques for use with various student populations and educational settings.

COURSE OUTCOMES:
Participants will:

- develop skills in facilitating mindfulness practices and integrating mindfulness into lesson plans and teaching strategies.
- learn strategies for promoting mindfulness among colleagues and school administrators, and for developing a culture of mindfulness in their schools and educational institutions.
- be able to critically evaluate the effectiveness of mindfulness practices and interventions, and will develop the ability to adapt mindfulness practices to different educational contexts and student populations.
- be able to create a mindfulness plan that they can implement in their own teaching and professional practices.

- Welcome, orientation and briefing before classes
- Introduction to Mindfulness
- Reflections on how to incorporate these techniques in the classroom
2) Tuesday
- Practical session of mindfulness
- How to reduce stress and anxiety in the classroom and workplace
3) Wednesday
- Mindfulness in the classroom
- Strategies for improving attention
4) Thursday
- Development of emotional awareness
- Recognising and managing emotions in the classroom
5) Friday
- Application of mindfulness in the classroom
- Approaches to improving pronunciation, listening skills
