Accesible Digital Technology for Teachers – EAS-NT2

COURSE SUMMARY:
Over 50 percent of teachers worldwide are not digital natives and many work in schools that are not equipped with state-of-the-art technology. However, technology is an integral part of our students lives and today’s lessons need to reflect this. This course aims to make technology accessible for all teachers no matter what their previous experience by covering the latest developments in e-learning and exploiting the potential of students’ own devices as learning tools. Through practical, hands-on sessions you will learn how to create interactive lessons and digital content using basic online tools and apps that can be used
in a primary or secondary school environment. Students will document their progress throughout the course by posting updates in the form of videos, blogs etc on social media.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must have B1 (Intermediate) level of English or above. Applicants must bring their own laptop and USB stick with a minimum of 4GB capacity. Other devices or hardware will not be sufficient for course workshops.

1) Monday
- Course introduction
- How to use technology to communicate with your students and help create a paperless classroom
- Documenting course participation on social media
2) Thursday
- Turning distraction into a learning tool. Exploiting your students’ digital devices in the classroom
- Using online video content in the classroom effectively
- Using AI in the classroom
3) Wednesday
- Life hacks vs Technology. Using waste materials to create your own classroom tools
- The student as digital creator. Creating content to consolidate learning
- Teaching Practice
4) Thursday
- Gamification. Using digital tools to increase learner engagement
- Blogs, blogging and websites. How to create digital learning spaces and manage posts
- Teaching Practice
5) Friday
- Preparing presentations and projects
- Presentations and projects

OTHER INFORMATION:
- Lessons per week: 30 lessons/week (20 Presentation + 10 Workshop)
- Lesson duration: 1 lesson = 45 minutes
- Minimum age: 21+
- Class size: maximum 12
