English Language Development For Teachers And Staff Working In Education (B1-B2) – EAS-GN2

COURSE SUMMARY:
This course is aimed at teachers and educational staff who are interested in developing their English language skills to be able to communicate more effectively and with greater confidence. Participants will be able to "brush up" and practise their English in an English speaking and interactive environment. The course also includes a number of lessons that focus on cultural topics, for instance, local traditions, history and geography. The participants will engage in a number of hands-on activities.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS:
Applicant should have a B1/B2 (Intermediate and Upper-Intermediate) level of English. Applicant will be asked to take a placement test on the first day of the course. Applicant must be a teacher or educational staff.

PREPARATION:
Each applicant will be asked to complete an enrolment form before the course starts. This will make it possible to plan around the participants’ needs.

COURSE OUTCOMES:
Learners will
- enhance their knowledge of general English working towards a B2 level.
- have the opportunity to practise English and gain confidence in using the language.
- engage in a number of practical activities that encourage critical thinking.
- explore English from a cultural perspective.

UNITS:
The course will include the following units:
A) Language Development:
- Language awareness: exploring and building up lexical and grammatical areas.
- Developing the four languages skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing.
- Communication skills: gaining confidence and fluency.
- Phonology: working on stress, rhythm, intonation and phonetic sounds and symbols.
B) Language Development through Cultural topics such as:
- Historical facts
- Local traditions
- Food
- Geographical features of the islands
- Feasts and celebrations

SAMPLE PROGRAMME (from Monday to Friday):
- 9:00-12:30 Language Developement
- 13:00-14:30 Language Development through Cultural topics
* On Monday between 9:00-10:30: Registration. Placement test. Introduction. Getting to know the participants. Needs analysis.
** Our reduced hours policy applies in the case of 3 or less course participants.

- Lessons per week: 30 lessons (Language Development)
- Lesson duration: 1 lesson = 45 minutes
- Minimum age: 21+
- Class size: maximum 12
